Jenny Litster completed a PhD on The Scottish Context of L.M. Montgomery at the University of Edinburgh in 2001. She has presented her research at six L.M. Montgomery conferences: her 2002 paper brought Montgomery’s “secret diary” co-authored with her friend, Nora Lefurgey, to a wider audience for the first time. In 2006 Litster co-directed, with Prof. Elizabeth Waterston, a short summer course on Montgomery at the University of Prince Edward Island. As well as a number of publications on Montgomery - in the Journal Canadian Children’s Literature, in L.M. Montgomery and Canadian Culture (1999), The Intimate Life of L.M. Montgomery (2005), and L.M. Montgomery and the Matter of Nature (2018) - she proofread and researched reference notes for Volumes IV and V of Montgomery’s selected journals. Until 2016 she worked at the Institute of Education, London, for a centre conducting research to improve adult literacy and numeracy. She lives in Edinburgh, where she leads expert tours of the city's history and culture for Context Travel.
