The community of L.M. Montgomery readers are physically distanced from one another at the present moment, but we are connected by our ability to take comfort in the imagination of a writer who has provided us images from our everyday life that sustain us during times of crisis. You are invited to celebrate the heroism revealed in everyday life by submitting a picture of the domestic art (for example, of cooking, baking, gardening, knitting, sewing, crafts, music, reading, painting, games, etc.) that you are creating in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. Together we can find beauty in the narratives we are weaving and living that give us a vision of the amazing number of “kindred spirits” there are in the world. It may be that the most significant outcome of this epoch in our lives will be the adventure of not just “staying home” but “coming home” and the lessons that process teaches us. We might not know what lies beyond this “bend in the road,” but like Anne, we can bravely choose “to believe that the best does.”

If you are interested in participating in this domestic art challenge, please send a photo of domestic art to Bonnie Tulloch at montgomeryjournal@upei.ca (subject head: Domestic Art). The image you submit will be used along with those of others to create a visual representation(s) that will be displayed on the L.M. Montgomery Institute's Vision Virtual Conference Space.

Deadline: Please submit your photos by 1 June 2020.

Below are some examples of the kind of domestic art photos you might submit:
